JHP Training Saves The Day For Group of 12 Learners

JHP Bristol has stepped in to help a group of 12 young learners complete their NVQ qualification when their existing training provider went into administration.

JHP Bristol were recommended by the Learning and Skills Council to take over as the training provider for these individuals who have apprenticeship placements at Allianz Insurance, one of the leading global services providers in insurance, banking and asset management.

Neil Tamplin, Centre Manager for JHP Bristol says, “This was a worrying time for these apprentices, they had worked so hard towards their NVQs in Business Administration and Customer Service. We were delighted to be able to provide them the help and assistance they needed to complete their qualification. Thanks to the hard work of the learners and our Internal Verifiers all 12 learners passed.

Neil concludes, “As a result of our dedication and professionalism we have built an excellent relationship with Allianz and look forward to having a long relationship with them for their future apprentices”.

JHP Burton recently held a presentation, celebrating the success of its learners in completing Apprenticeships and NVQs. The event was held at the Business Centre, and was attended by many parties instrumental in the achievements, including LSC and Connexions staff, representatives from local employers, JHP staff and learners.

Also present were the Mayor and Mayoress of East Staffordshire Borough Council, who presented certificates to the candidates and witnessed a short address by Keith Collins, Centre Manager, followed by a hearty buffet. In his speech, Keith highlighted the major advantages of gaining work experience whilst studying for a qualification, and stressed how important close working relationships between government, training provider and employer were to learner success.

The day was considered a great success by everyone in attendance, and next year's event has already been marked on the calendar - the Mayor and Mayoress even asked if they could be invited again next time!.

Luke Marwood

Luke had left school with no qualifications because of suffering health problems. He wanted to get himself back on track and so began on the Entry to Employment. Luke approached his time on the programme positively and not long after moved on to a placement with Cumbria County Council and went on to do an Apprenticeship in Administration. Not settled with his Administration qualification, Luke has now started an ITQ - which is an IT based qualification. And as if one award wasn't enough for Luke, to top it all off, he also won the biggest prize, the Connexions Cumbria Youth Progress Award - very well done!

The day was considered a great success by everyone in attendance, and next year's event has already been marked on the calendar - the Mayor and Mayoress even asked if they could be invited again next time!.

Following school, Lisa joined JHP Carlisle as a learner and was given a placement as receptionist at the JHP Carlisle premises. She has since completed an Apprenticeship in Business Administration with us as well as Key Skills in Application of Number level 1 and 2, Communication 2 and IT 2. JHP Coventry celebrates a successful partnership this month thanks to the delivery of Customer Service qualifications to staff at an Asian Hair and Beauty salon.

Rivaaj, which prides itself on client satisfaction, has been taking lessons in customer service from JHP Training to help staff at the salon gain important work-based qualifications to help improve their job related skills.

Initially four employees were signed up to undertake qualifications in Customer Service at Level 2, and since JHP's Trainer Assessor Lisa Hunter has been teaching the qualification, a further six employees have started NVQs as well! Manager Sandy Sembi is over the moon and said:

"Since starting the qualification the girls in the salon are now more motivated. They have taken what they've learned from their qualification and have applied it directly to their jobs, all to the pleasure of our clients. I really hope that our partnership with JHP Training continues as it has really worked for Rivaaj."

One employee who began at Rivaaj last December and has recently started her training is employee Paveran Preet Sandhu, aged 23. She is working towards an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3, "I have just started my qualification and I can already see how much it will help me with my job. The customers seem pleased with the changes it is making and it will definitely improve the service the shop offers. I'm really keen to continue learning, so once I finish this qualification I'd really like to do another."
